Valentine Bunting Banner

I have been wanting to make one of these for a very long time. I have 2 weeks off from work and decided now is a great time to make one. It was so easy and fun! There are so many tutorials out there and ideas of how to put them together. I used white double sided bias tape. Each flag measures 6 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It really makes our plain fireplace look great. I think I might have to make another one that goes with that room's colors. Happy Sewing!

Another Holiday Recipe--Egg Nog Cupcakes

Image
I had to share this recipe. It is so yummy! My kids that like egg nog really liked these cupcakes. My kids that don't like egg nog thought these were okay. My hubby and I loved them! I found this recipe at  Six Sisters Stuff . The recipe says to make mini cupcakes, but I didn't have the time to make that many. I made regular sized cupcakes and baked them for 18 minutes instead of the called for 8-10 minutes. Ingredients Cupcakes: 1 (16 ounce) box white cake mix 1¼ cups egg nog 2 eggs ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg ½ teaspoon vanilla extract Frosting: ½ cup butter, softened to room temperature ¼ cup egg nog 1 teaspoon vanilla ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg 4 to 5 cups powdered sugar (until you reach desired consistency) Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, egg nog, eggs, nutmeg and vanilla. Whisk together until just combined. Spoon batter into a mini cupcake pan filled with paper liners or sprayed with nonstick c...

Christmas Fun

Image
Okay, so this has nothing to do with fabric or sewing, but I just had to share. I found this yummy recipe for Cinnamon Caramels over the weekend. I love caramels and I love cinnamon candy, so I knew I had to try it. Let me tell you, they are delicious. They are not overpowering, just a light hint of cinnamon. I made it for a family party and everyone loved them. I found the recipe at Mel's Kitchen Cafe . Caramels are a lot of work, but totally worth it. You should give them a try!

STILL GOING STRONG

Image
I am still here. It has been a long time since I posted anything. Sorry about that. I have been busy with my 4 kids, working part time at my kids' school and running things on the home front while my hubby goes to school at night. I still have lots of fabric in my studio. And sometimes, I can't help myself from buying a new bolt or 2 from my local Riley Blake warehouse. Like these fun fabrics:  I have so many ideas for projects, but never seem to have the time to finish or really even start. I am currently working on a few table runners for a local fundraiser for my boys. I have 2 weeks to finish. I sure hope I can get them done.  Pictures and patterns will follow soon...I hope!

This turned out to be a super fun quilt for my nephew. I love the cars design in the quilt! This quilt was made with a 10 inch Stacker from Riley Blake Cruiser Blvd collection.
