Self Binding Blanket

I know I have seen these for years, but never could figure out how to make them. Then I found this tutorial on Everyday Mom . It made perfect sense. And so here is my first attempt:  It needs a good ironing job, but I think it turned out really cute. My daughter loves it and thinks it is hers. I guess it will be :)

Fabric Sale

I really need to make room for the new fabrics I have coming--Moda Ruby, Riley Blake Lost and Found and Riley Blake So Sophie.  Sooooo....  Summer Song cotton is now $6.50 a yard!  Sew Cherry cotton is now $7.00 a yard!

Fabric Storage Bin

Image
This is my first attempt to make a fabric storage bin. I absolutely love it! I bought the pattern from Baffin Bags on Etsy. I made the handles too big, but my daughter loves it that way. Wouldn't this make a great baby shower gift--a storage bin filled with diapers, lotions, burp cloths, etc? I wish I had a family member having a baby soon. This project only took 1 1/2 hours and I am sure I could make them faster now that I know how to put them together. I can't wait to make more!

So last week, a dear friend of mine had a birthday. I was having a hard time coming up with something to give her. And then I was looking through my patterns and came across this one: My friend is on the PTA and volunteers at our school a lot. So I decided to make her one. Here it is: She loved it! It was very easy and it only took 30 minutes to make. Now that I have made one, I notice lots of people wear them for their jobs. My kids have asked me to make them for their teachers. You can make one too. Check out my Etsy shop for the pattern :)

Alphabet Soup Girl Quilt

I finally got around to finishing this quilt. It really didn't take long to make, but July was a really bad month for me. My hubby left the country for 12 days, my son cut his finger at scout camp and required surgery, and my 3 boys all started school. This is a really fun quilt pattern. It gives it a patch look, without a lot of work. And all this from a 10" stacker. The back will be this: And this will be the binding: After a good pressing, it will be off to the quilter. Now I have to decide on a design and thread color. I will post another picture when it is all done.

Zig Zag Quilt

Image
I have had a lot of requests about the Zig Zag quilt from my Etsy banner. Here is a better picture It was made with the Riley Blake All Star fabric collection. I made it with a pattern from Bee Square . Here is a picture of a few rows layed out. I love the pattern because there are no triangle pieces :) My cute sister-in-law loved this quilt when I gave it to her and her new baby boy. The back of it is blue minky--so soft. I even made a bigger one for my son's twin bed. It is at my quilter's right now. I will post a picture when I get it back.

Opportunities

Image
Well a lot has happened since my last post. I am anxiously awaiting for my business license to come in the mail. There will be lots more fabric coming to my shop in the near future. I have to tell you something. And this may sound weird, but every time I sell a quilt, I have mixed feelings. I am excited that someone else finds my quilts worthy of buying, but I am also sad to see it leave my home. I spend a lot of time planning and making a quilt. But when I get a review back like the one I got from my first quilt--" Fantastic to deal with and a great quilt for my son to love and grow up with. Thanks so so much !",  it makes me so happy to know that someone else will enjoy and love it too. I mailed this cute quilt today: I can't wait for you to see what is coming to my shop in the next few days. I am so excited! Oh, and I am taking 1 quilt and 1 table runner to the quilter tomorrow.

Good Day

So yesterday was a really good day, or even a really good weekend. I sold a necklace Saturday night, and then sold 3 table runners Monday morning. So excited. I mailed them all out today. Feels good to see them go somewhere else :) I hope they enjoy their items. I also finished a quilt and a table runner today. Can't wait to get them to the quilter tomorrow. Things are good.

So I have had a really bad week. I have had a very busy week. I was not feeling very motivated to make anything and a little discourage about sales. But last night, I sold this: This is one of my favorites. I am feeling better. I also finished this quilt yesterday. My two year old thinks it is hers. Thank goodness I have enough left over to make another one. It is a perfect size for a toddler bed. I am also making a matching pillowcase this week. I also heard back from the buyer of the spring table runner. She gave me a wondeful comment in her feedback on Etsy. That also made my day--to know she loves something that I made sure makes me feel good.

Sold! Sold! Sold!

Image
I sold my first item yesterday! Hoorah for me. I thought it would never happen. This is what I sold: And this is what I am taking to the quilter tomorrow: I love this quilt. Too bad I don't have any friends having baby boys this year :(

Americana Quilt

Look what came back from the quilter today and is now ready to sell.

Welcome

This is my first post. I have decided to start selling quilts and things. I have been making quilts for 4 years now. I am totally addicted to quilting. I have so many ideas in my head and things I want to try. My husband says we have enough quilts. I have given away over 20 quilts and this year even donated a quilt to the Festival of Trees. It really was neat to see my quilt and to know that someone paid $375 for it. I was very proud. I want to post my progress on my quilts and keep track of my favorite quilt and tutorial blogs.
